Dhoomapanam

Dhoomapanam

Dhoomapanam is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy that involves the inhalation of medicated smoke or fumes. It is a therapeutic procedure used for various purposes, including respiratory conditions, detoxification, and mental clarity.

During Dhoomapanam, specific medicinal herbs or herbal formulations are burned to produce smoke. The patient inhales this smoke through the mouth and nostrils, allowing the medicinal properties of the herbs to enter the respiratory system and circulate throughout the body.

Benefits of Dhoomapanam include:

  • Respiratory Health: Dhoomapanam is beneficial for clearing congestion, reducing inflammation, and promoting respiratory health. It can be helpful in managing conditions like asthma, bronchitis, and allergies.
  • Detoxification: The inhalation of medicinal smoke helps to cleanse the respiratory passages and remove toxins from the body. It supports the elimination of excess Kapha (one of the three Doshas or biological energies) from the respiratory system.
  • Mental Clarity: Dhoomapanam is believed to have a calming and clarifying effect on the mind. It can help improve focus, concentration, and mental alertness.
  • Sinus Relief: The warm, aromatic smoke can help alleviate sinus congestion and sinus-related discomfort.
